Wound Care Services
Diabetic Wound Care
Diabetes can affect circulation, sensation and the body's ability to heal, which means wounds in patients with diabetes often warrant closer, more consistent evaluation. This is general wound assessment and management for patients with diabetes — it is not a podiatry or vascular surgery service.

Who This May Be For
- Patients with diabetes who have a new or non-healing wound
- Patients with reduced sensation in the feet or lower legs
- Caregivers of patients with diabetes and limited mobility
- Patients referred by a primary care provider for wound monitoring
What to Expect
- Assessment of the wound alongside relevant factors such as blood sugar management and circulation
- Ongoing monitoring for signs that may need additional attention, such as infection indicators
- Education on positioning, footwear awareness and pressure relief where appropriate
- Coordination with podiatry, vascular or primary care when a concern falls outside this practice's scope
When to Seek Care
- Any new open area on the foot or lower leg in a patient with diabetes
- A wound with increasing redness, warmth, odor or drainage
- Numbness or reduced feeling that has delayed noticing an injury
- A wound that has been treated at home without improvement
